Emergency ServiceThe Practice provides it's own twenty four hour emergency service 365 days a
year with a vet and nurse always available. To contact the duty
veterinary surgeon please phone 07000 614482 and speak to our out-of-hours call
centre who will get the duty vet to phone you back.
House CallsThe veterinary surgeons
are able to make house calls in certain situations, however most cases can be
seen more quickly and effectively at the surgery where more extensive facilities
are available. If you require a house call please try to telephone the
appropriate surgery before 10:00am.
Ambulance ServiceThe practice has an ambulance service staffed by the practice nurses, so sick animals can be collected and delivered home on request. This is much cheaper than a home visit from a vet and often much quicker as the vets are often tied up with appointments and operations at the surgery. If you would like your pet to be collected by the ambulance, please telephone us at the surgery you normally attend.
Repeat Prescriptions and the Dispensing of MedicinesMost drugs used for sick animals are covered by strict legal controls over their use, and can only be prescribed after a clinical examination. In many cases repeat prescriptions may be given, but only with the consent of a veterinary surgeon who has sufficient knowledge of your pet’s clinical history and condition and will generally be limited to two month's worth of medication. In all cases we need do a health check on your pet at least every six months and sometimes more frequently. This is a legal requirement to ensure that any medication is working effectively, and that your pet’s health is not deteriorating unnoticed and that any side effects are noted and monitored. In order to ensure any
repeat prescriptions are ready for collection when you call in please would you
give the surgery at least twenty four hours notice.
Injured WildlifeWe are always prepared to take in and examine injured wildlife brought to the surgery for free. Sometimes they have to be euthanased, sometimes they can be treated, sometimes we pass them onto other organisations, such as the RSPCA and Hawk Conservancy who are better able to provide the care the animal needs.
Lost and FoundWe are always pleased to help by taking details of lost and found pets to pass onto others who call. We do not have the facilities to take strays in, but will always see injured strays. Please contact our emergency number out of hours. Please click here for details of who to contact if you have lost of found a pet.
