IN-PATIENT CARE

It is our policy to offer over night in-patient care according to the needs of the patient.

It is the responsibility of the Duty Vet to establish what level of care is required by each individual case.

Nursing staff are on the premises each evening and it is their responsibility to ensure that the Duty Vet's instructions are carried out, this may include:-

1.     Informing the Duty Vet if the animals condition changes significantly.

2.     Administer any simple treatments

3.     Remove food/water bowls as indicated.

4.     Move animal into new kennel or change litter tray as necessary.

5.     Check drips are running correctly.

6.     To take dogs out to pass urine in the evening/morning where appropriate.

The Duty Nurse/Resident Vet will be responsible to check on in-patients between 9pm & 11pm as well as 6am & 8am as necessary.

If the Duty Vet requires a higher level of support for a particular animal, this will be  arranged with the Duty Nurse. Provisions can be made for close circuit tv monitoring or for the Duty Nurse to sleep in and monitor on an hourly basis.

Clients should realize that high level in-patient care is very labour intensive and is therefore charged accordingly.

OUT OF HOURS

We offer a full 24 hour emergency service,  providing a duty vet and nurse, 365 days a year. If you have an EMERGENCY or need URGENT ADVICE telephone 07000 614482 and you will automatically be put in touch with someone from the practice who will be able to help you.  If for some reason this does not work please telephone 01209 823128.

The Emergency Service is expensive to provide and supplementary fees are charged to cover this cost.

Discounts on this fee are available to Clients whose animals receive annual vaccinations from us.

Animals which are hospitalized outside normal working hours are checked and treated according to their clinical needs.

HOUSE CALLS

We are happy to make house calls, but clients should understand that these are substantially more expensive than a consultation at the surgery. We recommend that if at all possible you bring patients to the surgery where we are able to offer greater facilities and additional trained staff are available. We do appreciate, however, that in certain circumstances house calls are essential.

If you require a house call we request that if at all possible you contact us before 10.00am to make arrangements for the visit.

AMBULANCE SERVICE

The practice has an ambulance service staffed by the practice nurses so sick animals can be collected and delivered home on request. This is much cheaper that a home visit from a vet and often much quicker as the vets are often tied up with appointments and operations at the surgery. If you would like your pet to be collected by the ambulance please telephone us at the surgery you normally attend.
